Since December 2011, from one Monday to the next, without fail we converse. Bridging the gap between our two geographical locations - Basel and Bangkok - we have created a shared studio space where the powerlessness of distance becomes productive.
We talk of our personal lives and points of views, exchange thoughts and processes, opening up myriad avenues that lead us to explore in previously un-intended directions. Our exchange each monday starts a process, one that makes us venture into depths – touching on memory, day-to-day life, our concerns, past works, the world around us – and engage different media from drawing, photography, animation, performance to cooking, to express afresh in this ongoing communication.
There is no fixed outcome or set time frame – except the rhythmic flow of our connection, from Monday to Monday.
Lena Eriksson lives in Basel, Switzerland and Varsha Nair lived in Bangkok, Thailand and moved to Baroda, India in 2019.
Their previous collaboration includes the performance LOOC: Line Out Of Control, which has been presented in various locations.
